About the .NET Landscape
This site is a map of the open-source .NET ecosystem, in the spirit of the CNCF Cloud Native Landscape. It groups 1278 projects into 28 categories so you can see, at a glance, what the community reaches for when it needs an HTTP client, a message bus, a test framework or a PDF library.
Where the numbers come from
- GitHub: stars, forks, open issues, license, primary language, topics, archive status, last push and the README.
- NuGet: total download count, latest stable version and the package icon (used as the logo where available; otherwise the GitHub organisation avatar).
A scheduled job refreshes everything once a day and commits the result, so every number you see is at most ~24 hours old. Last refresh: .
Licensing badges
Most projects on the map are free and open source. The ones that are not carry a small badge in the tile's corner:
- $ Commercial licence: a paid licence is required for most commercial or production use. Many of these are free below a revenue threshold (QuestPDF, ImageSharp, Duende IdentityServer) or free for older versions (FluentAssertions 7, MassTransit 8).
- ◐ Open core: the library is open source, but the vendor sells editions, add-ons, tooling or hosting around it (Hangfire Pro, ABP Commercial, Avalonia XPF).
- ☁ Paid service: a free SDK whose whole point is a paid hosted service (Sentry, Datadog, OpenAI, cloud SDKs).
Licensing changes often. Treat the badge as a prompt to check, not as legal advice, and tell us if one is out of date.
How to add or fix a project
The quickest way: send an e-mail to [email protected] with the project name, GitHub repo and the category you think it belongs to. The "Add a project" button in the header opens a pre-filled message.
Under the hood the whole landscape is one YAML file,
data/landscape.yml, kept in a
self-hosted Forgejo repository, so there is no public
pull-request flow. If you want to save a round-trip, paste a ready-made entry into the e-mail:

- Actively maintained or historically significant (archived projects stay, marked as such).
- Useful to a general .NET audience rather than a single vendor's product line, with a few notable exceptions.
